Alejio Veliz transfer: Tottenham return now on cards in January

Tottenham are considering bringing Alejio Veliz back from his loan spell at Espanyol in the January transfer window, according to AS.

The news outlet reports (2 January) that the Lilywhites will try to cut short his time in La Liga after his failure to adapt at the Spanish outfit.

Spurs are already looking at a new destination to send the Argentine youngster to finish the season.

After struggling at the White and Blue, the 21-year-old’s future is up in the air.

Tottenham need to make right transfer call for Alejio Veliz transfer

Veliz came to the North London outfit with high expectations in 2023, but the youngster has failed to live up to his expectations so far.

The Argentine spent the second half of last season on loan at Sevilla but wasn’t afforded much game time.

Having moved to Spain once again in the summer of 2024, the 21-year-old’s prospects away from Tottenham haven’t improved.

Veliz started the campaign as a key player for Espanyol, but the striker has started on the bench in the last eight La Liga matches.

The youngster needs regular minutes to continue his development, but it doesn’t look like that will be possible at the RCDE Stadium.

Tottenham already have Dominic Solanke and Richarlison in their ranks.

Despite the Brazilian’s consistent injury issues, Veliz will certainly not be able to get the minutes he requires in N17.

Spurs now have a massive decision to make and pick the right club for the Argentina Under-20 international.

In other Tottenham news, Sam Johnstone is being eyed after an update regarding his transfer.
