Alan Shearer unleashes ‘shocking’ attack on Tottenham after what he said before
Alan Shearer has launched a scathing attack on Tottenham ahead of their trip to Liverpool on Sunday.
Spurs have had a nightmare of a season under Ange Postecoglou this time, falling to 16th place in the Premier League with only five games left.
The North London giants risk embarrassing themselves if they do not win the UEFA Europa League, where they face Bodo/Glimt in the semi-final next week.
As for Postecoglou, he is heading towards the exit door at Hotspur Way, whether or not he succeeds in leading Tottenham to Europa League glory.

Shearer tears Tottenham to shreds
Assessing Tottenham and Manchester United’s disastrous seasons, Shearer stressed the need for both teams to win the Europa League to avoid major embarrassment.
The Newcastle icon is of the view that the English giants have already embarrassed themselves with their performances in the Premier League.
Team | Matches | Wins | Draws | Losses | Goal Difference | Points | Form |
14. Manchester United | 33 | 10 | 8 | 15 | -8 | 38 | WLDLL |
16. Tottenham | 33 | 11 | 4 | 18 | 10 | 37 | LLWLL |
He also expressed his astonishment at the possibility of Spurs possibly finishing 17th, just one place above the relegation zone, this season.
Shearer went on to recall how he predicted both Tottenham and United to lose their games against Nottingham Forest and Wolves, and he turned out to be right.
“It’s pretty simple for them, they have to win it [the Europa League], otherwise you know what could happen”, Shearer wrote in his column on the Betfair website (24 April).
“I get it and I understand it, because they can’t do anything in the league – it’s embarrassing wherever they’re going to finish, but Spurs could finish 17th!
“It’s incredible when you think about it. Last weekend I predicted a Forest win at Spurs and the same for Wolves at United and both happened. I think that tells you where both Spurs and Man United are.
“It really has been a shocking season for both clubs – it’s embarrassing.”

Daniel Levy must sack Postecoglou
Everyone at Tottenham must be ashamed of themselves after what Shearer said about them.
The truth is, Daniel Levy should have pulled the plug on Postecoglou long ago. The only reason he held off on sacking the Greek-Australian manager is the Europa League, but in hindsight, even that seems to have been a mistake.
There is no reason why Levy should stick with Postecoglou even if the former Celtic boss leads Spurs to Europa League glory.
The fact that Tottenham have already lost 18 games in the Premier League is embarrassing and is unacceptable for any manager.
