Alan Shearer shares what’s obvious at Tottenham after what he was told about Daniel Levy

Tottenham can now only win the Europa League this season after another disastrous week.

Spurs were knocked out of the FA Cup on Sunday after they were beaten 2-1 by Aston Villa.

Ange Postecoglou’s men put up a decent fight at Villa Park but were embarrassed completely days before to lose 4-0 at Liverpool and crash out of the Carabao Cup.

While fans have been calling for the head of Postecoglou since the 2024/25 season kicked off, Alan Shearer believes that something more “obvious” is hanging over their heads at the moment.

Three new faces were added to Spurs’ ranks in the winter window but it still feels like Postecoglou and Daniel Levy should have made more moves than they did.

The injury crisis that the North London outfit have been through this season has been remarkable which is why it isn’t all that much of a surprise to see them struggling as much as they are.

Speaking live on BBC One on Sunday (9 February), Shearer shared his thoughts on what some Spurs fans have told him they want to happen after “Levy out” chants echoed around the stadium.

“We talk about the pressure that Ange Postecoglou is under,” he said. “If you speak to one or two Spurs fans it is obvious what they want.

“And it’s not to do with the manager,” alluding to Levy after chants for his exit.

Tottenham have some big decisions to make before the summer transfer window

Even though Tottenham are still in with a chance of winning the Europa League, it feels like they’d have to put up a pretty solid fight to even get to the final.

Postecoglou has been cut plenty of slack by Levy due to the sheer amount of injuries the Australian’s team have suffered this season.

However, instead of fans wanting the former Celtic boss to exit, Levy departing could be exactly what the North London outfit needs to give them a new lease of life.

At the moment, it feels like it’s anyone’s guess about how things are likely to pan out but unless Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso have what it takes to reinvigorate an entire squad, it’s difficult to understand why nothing more was done in the transfer window.

These are all things to ponder of course but if change doesn’t occur at Tottenham soon, it’s hard to see how they’ll manage to recover from the position they find themselves in at the moment.
