Agbonlahor aims brutal Kendrick Lamar dig at Tottenham after Aston Villa news
Tottenham have found themselves being discussed plenty after their FA Cup defeat against Aston Villa on Sunday (9 February).
The Lilywhites crashed out of the FA Cup with a 2-1 defeat just days after a 4-0 defeat against Liverpool knocked them out of the Carabao Cup too.
As a result, there is plenty of speculation surrounding Ange Postecoglou’s future in North London, with questions of what is next for Spurs.
Gabby Agbonlahor aims dig at Tottenham
While Tottenham find themselves sitting 14th in the table, their FA Cup conquerors are certainly a side experiencing a different story this season as they are eighth in the Premier League – only six points back of the top four – and still competing in the Champions League and FA Cup.
In recent weeks, some rivalry has built between the two sides as a result of the winter transfer window, which saw the teams in the market for similar players.
This was caused by the transfer of Axel Disasi from Chelsea. Although the defender had agreed terms with Aston Villa, Chelsea weren’t keen on sending their man to a Champions League rival and struck a deal with the Lilywhites instead.
However, the 26-year-old rejected this move to Tottenham as he had already agreed personal terms in the West Midlands which was his preference. Therefore, he completed a loan move to join Unai Emery’s side leaving Spurs disappointed in their effort to bring in extra reinforcement alongside Kevin Danso.
This situation has led to former-Villa man Gabby Agbonlahor taking another dig at Tottenham after Aston Villa announced Kendrick Lamar – start of the Super Bowl half-time show – would be performing at Villa Park as he posted on X (10 February): “Spurs apparently wanted Kendrick and he chose Villa.”
Tottenham need a turnaround quick
Agbonlahor hasn’t wasted any time sticking the knife in after Villa beat Spurs in the FA Cup and it is sort of emblematic of how the club is viewed at the minute with Tottenham desperately disappointing the Premier League.
Whether Spurs were trying hard to get Disasi in or not it is hard to say but there were also reports they wanted to sign Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United before he joined Villa.
Spurs fans are certainly hurting right now and Postecoglou faces a huge task in convincing the doubters, both internal and external, that he is the right man to take the club forward on the pitch.
There is embarrassment over where they currently sit and the pressure has to be on the Australian to fix things now. Otherwise it will be curtains.
