Tottenham v Brighton preview: Team news, lineups, supercomputer prediction

Tottenham go into their final game of the season in such brighter spirits, having picked up the Europa League trophy.

Ange Postecoglou’s men came out on top in Bilbao, beating Manchester United 1-0 thanks to a Brennan Johnson goal.

There’s now just one game left in the Premier League and Postecoglou welcomes Brighton, knowing the result could have an impact on his future as boss.

Preview

It has been a disastrous domestic season for the Lilywhites, who sit 17th in the Premier League table.

The Europa League win may have secured Champions League football for next season, but the realities of how poor the campaign has been cannot be papered over by that alone.

Spurs have fallen to 21 league defeats this season and Postecoglou will be praying that statistic doesn’t get any worse against Brighton.

However, Brighton sit eighth in the table and if they can get a result, it could be enough to secure European football next season.

Tottenham and Brighton have had very different seasons.

The Seagulls come into this game having beaten Premier League champions Liverpool 3-2 on Monday (19 May), so they will be full of confidence.

Therefore, this is going to be no easy game for the North London outfit, even if they do have momentum coming into it.

Supercomputer Prediction

Although Tottenham come into this game on the back of a massive victory, Brighton are the favourites for Sunday’s game.

According to the supercomputer, Brighton have a 48.4 per cent chance of coming away victorious, while Spurs have just a 28.6 per cent chance.

Spurs do have a 23 per cent chance of taking a point, although it’s yet to be seen what, if anything, will be enough for Postecoglou.
