Tottenham fans aim hilarious dig at Arsenal before stewards intervene

Tottenham fans were in a boisterous mood ahead of their home fixture against Crystal Palace.

It was the first game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since they qualified for the Europa League final with their 2-0 win against Bodo/Glimt, where fewer than 500 supporters were in attendance.

As such, the Tottenham faithful were in good spirits, although their relations with the club have not always been rosy this season, with Ange Postecoglou clashing with supporters on multiple occasions this campaign.

They have also held protests against Daniel Levy, yet Spurs fans have still maintained their humour and took the opportunity to poke fun at their North London rivals.

Fans have Arsenal-aimed banner removed

Tottenham‘s longstanding rivalry with Arsenal has made the North London derby one of the most exciting fixtures of the season.

Unfortunately for the Lilywhites, recent results against the Gunners have limited their bragging rights, with their last victory coming under Antonio Conte almost three years ago.

Nonetheless, they still found an angle to taunt Arsenal and produced a banner which mocked their semi-final exit from the Champions League at the hands of PSG.

It simply read ‘Merci PSG’, thanking the French outfit for eliminating their rivals and leaving them as the only club from the traditional top six not to reach a major final this season.

Tottenham staff did not see the funny side and opted to remove the sign.

Tottenham’s dire London derby record

Whilst banter will always transcend results, Tottenham’s miserable record in London derbies during Ange Postecoglou‘s tenure is nothing to laugh about.

A double against Brentford and a home victory against West Ham are the only positive results they have mustered against teams from the capital this season.

Crucially, they lost all four fixtures against their fiercest rivals in Chelsea and Arsenal, which is a worrying trend that predates the current manager, but will only fuel the rumours surrounding Postecoglou’s future.
