Richarlison ‘finished at Tottenham’ – Three things learned in Bodo/Glimt win

Tottenham successfully navigated the challenge of their Europa League semi-final first leg with a 3-1 win over Bodo/Glimt.

Spurs held a 2-0 lead at half-time thanks to Brennan Johnson’s early strike, followed by James Maddison’s goal.

Dominic Solanke then put Tottenham 3-0 up from the penalty spot, before Bodo/Glimt hit back late on through Ulrik Saltnes.

Tottenham News outlines three of the main talking points as Ange Postecoglou’s men earned a victory in North London.

Richarlison surely set for Spurs exit

Richarlison has endured a tough season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium amid injury struggles.

The Brazil international has faced a lack of game time with the North Londoners this season, and Spurs are keen to sell him this summer amid interest from Everton and Newcastle.

Richarlison has endured a difficult campaign

The writing appears to be on the wall for Richarlison and his lack of future with Tottenham after he notched an assist with a clever header against Bodo/Glimt, but was substituted at half-time.

Postecoglou proves he has a ‘Plan B’

Amid the increasing speculation surrounding his future as Spurs boss, Postecoglou was having a perfect evening until Saltnes scored for Kjetil Knutsen’s men.

One of the Australian’s main shortcomings throughout a poor Premier League season has been his stubbornness and unwillingness to alter his style despite a series of bad results in the domestic game.

However, in the first half against Bodo/Glimt, Spurs played a long-ball style of football, which they do not usually turn to, and it caused significant issues for their Norwegian opponents.

Postecoglou has proven he is not as set in his ways as it previously seemed.

Further questions towards Tottenham’s medical department arise

One of the most disappointing aspects of Spurs’ season has been the raft of fitness issues Postecoglou’s squad have encountered throughout the campaign.

Key defender Radu Dragusin and star attacker Son Heung-Min were both absent as Tottenham took on Bodo/Glimt on Thursday courtesy of injuries.

Shortly ahead of kickoff, Postecoglou also confirmed that Lucas Bergvall had suffered an ankle injury and subsequently missed the Europa League semi-final clash.

Then, in Tottenham’s win over Bodo/Glimt, both James Maddison and goalscorer Dominic Solanke had to leave the field due to injuries.

The number of fitness setbacks among the Spurs squad cannot be a coincidence, while the medical department are now facing calls to be sacked.
