Tottenham player ratings vs Manchester City — Richarlison back to best, 4/10 below par

Tottenham beat Manchester City 2-0 in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Etihad Stadium hosted Thomas Frank’s team on 23 August, with the Danish manager opting for a back four against the Cityzens.

Spurs looked organised and composed for most of the first half, and subsequently got their reward in the 35th minute, with Richarlison setting up Brennan Johnson.

Joao Palhinha doubled the North London outfit’s lead just before the break, with the visitors showcasing defensive solidity in the second half.

Richarlison impresses in Manchester City vs Tottenham

Richarlison has started the season on the front foot for Spurs, scoring in the opening Premier League fixture of the season against Burnley.

The 28-year-old continued his form at the Etihad Stadium and was often seen triggering the press as the Cityzens struggled to get in the game.

Apart from assisting Johnson for the North London outfit’s opener, Richarlison also played a part in forcing the error from James Trafford, which eventually led to Palhinha’s goal.

The Bayern Munich loanee deserves special mention for his industrious display in the engine room against one of the best teams in the league.

Djed Spence struggles at Etihad Stadium

Djed Spence struggled against Burnley and didn’t look the most comfortable at the Etihad Stadium either.

The 25-year-old was arguably the poorest player on the pitch for the North London outfit, often looking thoughtless in possession.

With Spence playing out of position, he was unable to do much in the final third, something the Englishman knows he can do better, and he had a tough time against Oscar Bobb on occasion defensively.
