Tottenham player ratings vs Burnley – Richarlison stuns, 4/10 underwhelms
Tottenham started their Premier League campaign with a 3-0 victory against Burnley at home.
Thomas Frank was victorious when Tottenham welcomed Burnley in their opening Premier League game of the season.
Richarlison fired Spurs in front within the opening 10 minutes from a Mohammed Kudus cross. This duo were back at it again in the second half as the right winger once again set up the Brazilian’s second of the afternoon.
Brennan Johnson did not even need to look up as he netted Spurs’ third of the game in the 66th minute, as Tottenham News rates every player’s performance out of 10.
Richarlison stuns against Burnley
Richarlison was expected to leave Tottenham at the end of the summer – after his performance against Burnley on Saturday, he’s likely going nowhere.
The Brazilian was an attacking threat from the first whistle. He netted on the half-volley for Spurs within the opening 10 minutes after Mohammed Kudus sent a wonderful ball into the box.
But his second goal stole the show. It came during a period when the Lilywhites needed a second to lock down their win.
- Richarlison left the pitch having scored half of his Premier League tally last season.
In the 61st minute, he had an opening, and he took it. The Brazilian executed a fantastic scissor kick goal from another Kudus cross – these two are becoming quite the pair.

Djed Spence underwelming against Burnley
Tottenham are set to announce Djed Spence’s new contract in the coming days. However, his recent performance against Burnley may have put plans on hold.
The fullback seemed as though he was on a different wavelength from those on the left-hand side. He was sloppy in possession and struggled to create good scoring opportunities as the game progressed.
Defensively, the defender did not have much to do despite Burnley creating ample chances throughout the afternoon. While this could be chalked down to having little synergy with Johnson on the wing, his performance was lacking in several ways.
Spence had already come under fire for his PSG performance, and things do not seem to be looking up for the left-back.
