Tottenham player ratings v Reading – Kudus and Vuskovic rated, one teammate 5/10
Tottenham started their pre-season campaign in perfect fashion as they overcame Reading 2-0.
Hosted at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, the match was Thomas Frank’s first as Spurs manager.
After a goalless first half, Will Lankshear quickly opened the scoring in Reading, before Luka Vuskovic added a second soon after.
Now, Tottenham Hotspur News has rated each player’s performance after the comfortable victory.
Luka Vuskovic shines in Tottenham v Reading
Many Spurs fans may have been forgiven if they forgot Vuskovic joined Tottenham this summer.
However, now that the young defender is at the London club, he has made his presence quickly known.
The 18-year-old picked up a goal and an assist just eight minutes into his Tottenham debut in style.
The flick on for Lankshear’s opener was excellent, and made it almost impossible for the young striker to miss.
On top of this, Vuskovic’s goal four minutes later was unstoppable, as he rifled the ball into the corner of the net.
While goalscoring is unlikely to be the defender’s forte in the upcoming campaign, his performance will no doubt excite the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium faithful.
Dominic Solanke frustrates against Reading
As much as Tottenham had some great moments in the first half, the only thing was missing was a goal.
Frank would have been looking towards Dominic Solanke to provide the visitors the clinical edge, with the English international being the only Spurs striker on the field.
However, Solanke struggled to get into good positions, which made Tottenham feel toothless up front.
Considering it only took youngster Lankshear five minutes to score in the second half, these concerns have only been heightened.
Hopefully, as pre-season goes on, Solanke quickly sharpens up before the start of the competitive campaign.
