Tottenham on verge of matching abysmal 22-year record vs Man United

Thomas Frank has the opportunity to avoid overseeing Tottenham’s 10th Premier League home loss of the year against Man United.

Tottenham take on Man United on Saturday, and Frank is searching for his first home win since the opening day of the season.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been anything but a fortress, and it’s up to Frank to galvanise the crowd with a performance that they can be proud of.

2025 has been a tough watch for supporters in N17, and if Spurs lose to Ruben Amorim’s side on Saturday, it would be the most Premier League home defeats they’ve suffered in a calendar year since 2003.

Tottenham on course to make history if they lose to Man United

Despite their recent form on home soil, Spurs are expected to beat Man United, and there would be huge unrest if they were to slip to another defeat.

Tottenham have lost 64.3 per cent (9/14) of their home matches this year, which the highest they’ve ever recorded in the Premier League.

Frank’s side have four home games left to play in the league at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2025, and it’s imperative that they kickstart this run with a convincing performance against Man United.

1994 and 2003 are the only years they’ve hit ten defeats, and Spurs are in real danger of matching that record.

The positive news for Frank is that Tottenham have a brilliant record against Man United, with the Lilywhites in search of a third successive home win against the Red Devils.

However, defeats to Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Bournemouth have dampened what has been a relatively promising start in charge for Frank.

Spurs played dreadfully against Chelsea, and their performances must improve against a buoyant side who are full of confidence at the moment.

Why have Tottenham been so poor at home?

With Man United coming into the game unbeaten in four, it’s up to Frank to deliver an effective game plan that could nullify the visitors.

Despite possessing the best away record in the league, Tottenham have failed to break down opponents that have come to N17.

They were overrun by Bournemouth, outfought by Aston Villa, and outclassed by Chelsea, and all three of these matches were inexcusable.

Of course, Frank faces no real pressure, but he needs to find a way of playing fluid football in front of the 60,000 Tottenham fans rather quickly.

Otherwise, he may face the wrath of supporters who are expecting a more attractive brand of football.
