Premier League make official statement on Tottenham v Crystal Palace incident
Ange Postecoglou’s side were all over the place in the first half against Crystal Palace at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Postecoglou made eight changes for the Premier League clash with Crystal Palace on Sunday (11 May).
Son Heung-min returned to the Tottenham squad, a timely boost ahead of the UEFA Europa League final.
However, there was some concern among supporters about a potential injury to Destiny Udogie, with the Italian absent from the squad to take on Crystal Palace.
Premier League make statement as Crystal Palace goal ruled out
Spurs supporters are unlikely to have any interest in the Premier League. All eyes will be on the UEFA Europa League final against Manchester United at the Estadio de San Mamés on Wednesday, 21 May.
However, naturally, they would have still felt disappointed after Ismaïla Sarr put the ball in the back of the net for the visitors with eight minutes on the clock on Sunday.

Fortunately for Tottenham, the goal was ruled out for offside after a VAR review, and the Premier League made a statement about the incident via PLMatchCentre on X (11 May).
The statement read, “VAR checked the referee’s call of goal – and established that Mateta was in an offside position in the build-up and recommended that the goal was disallowed.”
However, after another disallowed goal for Palace, Oliver Glasner’s side finally took the lead through Eberechi Eze in first-half stoppage time.
Postecoglou will want to build some momentum
Everything for Tottenham is riding on their clash with Manchester United in Spain.
Therefore, it is understandable why Postecoglou made so many changes against Crystal Palace.
However, Spurs won’t want to head to Bilbao on the back of some poor performances in the league. As a result, while the outcome of the clash with Palace might not change anything, it is still important that Tottenham put in a strong second-half display to build some confidence among the squad.
The first half against Palace was nothing short of dreadful. Therefore, supporters will be expecting serious improvement after the break.
