Palhinha struggles, one attacker does well: Tottenham player ratings vs Bayern Munich
Tottenham were thrashed 4-0 by Bayern Munich in a pre-season friendly in Germany, where they were greeted by a familiar face.
Harry Kane lined up against the Lilywhites after leaving the club two years ago, and Spurs quickly remembered how dangerous he is upfront.
Cristian Romero did lunge in with a heavy tackle on the striker early on, but there was payback as Kane fired in a powerful finish to give Bayern the lead, but he then skied a penalty over the bar.
Bayern then overpowered Thomas Frank’s side in the second half, with Kingsley Coman, Lenart Karl and Jonah Kusi-Asare scoring stunning strikes.
Richarlison was a rare positive, as the Brazilian was Tottenham’s most threatening player with four shots on goal, but could not convert the chances he had.
Tottenham named a strong lineup in Munich but delivered a sub-par performance, and a lot of players struggled.

Joao Palhinha has game to forget vs Bayern Munich
Joao Palhinha recently joined Tottenham on loan from Bayern Munich, and his first appearance in a Spurs shirt came against his parent club.
However, Palhinha struggled to get into the game, and gave away the penalty in the first half after a mistimed tackle on Josip Stanicic.
- Palhinha failed to complete a single tackle or long ball against Bayern.
The midfielder struggled to dictate play while on the ball, completing just 11 passes in 45 minutes before he came off at half time.
It is early days for the 30-year-old, but it became clear that a midfield pivot alongside Rodrigo Bentancur may not be progressive enough in possession.

Romero lucky to avoid red but Richarlison impresses
Romero’s heavy challenge on Kane saw him avoid a yellow card, but he was booked later in the first half.
This did not deter him though, as he brought Kane down again with a powerful block, but did not see red in the friendly clash.
The centre-back had a poor game, failing to successfully complete a single tackle, and could not prevent Bayern from finding space in the box to attack.
While there weren’t many positives for Spurs, Richarlison did have a decent shift in attack.
