Dominic Solanke finished – Three things learned in Tottenham win vs Burnley
Thomas Frank made a dream start to life in the Premier League with Tottenham as his side beat Burnley 3-0 on Saturday.
Richarlison netted twice before Brennan Johnson added a third as Spurs swept Burnley aside at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 16 August.
It wasn’t all plain sailing in North London, and one stat in particular would have enraged Frank.
However, as far as a manager’s Premier League debut for a new club goes, it doesn’t get much better than three goals without reply.
Here is what Tottenham News learned from the contest.

Dominic Solanke could be finished at Tottenham
Dominic Solanke was left on the bench for Spurs’ clash against Burnley, with Richarlison given the nod through the middle by Frank.
Before the summer transfer window started, many supporters would have assumed that Richarlison would be sold and Solanke would be Frank’s number-one choice up front.
However, after his brace against Burnley, Richarlison might have worked his way into Frank’s plans.
If the Brazilian continues to perform like that, it is hard to see how he doesn’t start for Tottenham, which could lead to Solanke playing second fiddle.
Considering the Englishman arrived in North London for a big fee and is in the prime of his career, it’s difficult to see him settling for a place on the bench. As a result, he could seek an exit if he isn’t guaranteed regular minutes.

Mohammed Kudus is going to be a big player for Tottenham
Considering Mohammed Kudus was brought in from West Ham for £55million, it was always clear he was going to be a prominent part of Frank’s plans at Tottenham.
However, Kudus’ performance against Burnley, the Ghanaian, might end up becoming the star man in North London. In addition to his two assists against Burnley, he ran the show at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Kudus v Burnley
- Minutes Played: 85′
- Assists: Two
- Key Passes: Five
- Pass Accuracy: 92 per cent
- Accurate Crosses: Five
- Successful Dribbles: Two
While it’s early days, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Kudus establish himself as Spurs’ Player of the Season.

Tottenham are going to be dangerous from set-pieces
Under Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham never look particularly dangerous from set-pieces.
However, it seems as though this is something which Frank has already been working on at Hotspur Way. Tottenham seem to have more of a plan for free-kicks and corners.
They demonstrated this in the UEFA Super Cup by scoring twice from set-pieces against Paris Saint-Germain, and they continued to prove they will be a threat in these situations against Burnley.
