Ally McCoist rages at Romero in ‘stupid’ Tottenham moment v Bodo/Glimt – ‘Why?’
Ally McCoist was left baffled by Cristian Romero as Tottenham secured a 3-1 win against Bodo/Glimt on Thursday.
The Lilywhites are in an excellent position to now reach a Europa League final thanks to a sizable victory in the first leg of the semi-final on 1 May.
Goals from Brennan Johnson, James Maddison and Dominic Solanke were enough to allow Spurs to carry a three-goal aggregate lead to Norway next week.
Despite the success in North London, Romero once again caught the eye for the wrong reason as McCoist was less than impressed with the defender.

It is fair to say that it was the dream night for Ange Postecoglou as his side secured an all-important win in what has been a drab season.
Despite a late blow as Ulrik Saltnes scored a consolation goal, the general feeling in N17 was one of positivity with the result.
Regardless of this, the Spurs boss is unlikely to be best pleased with the actions of Romero who once again showed his reckless side.
With the score at 3-0, the Argentine bizarrely charged forward off the ball and blocked Jens Hauge for the away side.
This resulted in a completely needless yellow card, putting his side under pressure despite having almost all of the ball to that point.
McCoist was left confused and angry with the 27-year-old as the former striker spoke out against the Spurs man live on TNT Sports 2 (1 May, 09:39pm).
He said: “It’s stupid, you’re 3-0 up. Look – bang. Why would you do that? He’s not even looking at the ball and gets himself a yellow card.”

Romero showcases weakness v Bodo/Glimt
The Lilywhites have one of the better defensive pairings in the Premier League, but sometimes the former Juventus man lets his side down.
The Argentine’s partner, Micky van de Ven, has been superb ever since signing from Wolfsburg and is an excellent example of what a centre-back should be in North London.
Stat v Bodo/Glimt | Cristian Romero | Micky van de Ven |
Accurate passes | 43 | 46 |
Passes into final third | 4 | 5 |
Defensive actions | 8 | 1 |
Duels won | 5 | 4 |
Romero could learn something from the Dutchman’s coolness, although that isn’t in the wheelhouse of the World Cup winner.
He has an edge and an aggression which makes him the player he is, but Postecoglou is bound to be frustrated with his moments of madness.
The 27-year-old has to cut this sort of thing out of his game, especially if the Lilywhites want to reach the final of the Europa League.
