Alan Shearer instantly reacts to major Tottenham incident vs Aston Villa – ‘From bad to worse’
Richarlison seemed to pick up a hamstring injury in the first half between Tottenham and Aston Villa in the FA Cup on Saturday.
Unai Emery’s team have travelled to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 10 January, with the Brazilian striker returning to the starting lineup but lasting just 31 minutes.
Thomas Frank is under pressure at Spurs, with some fans already asking for his sacking at the North London outfit.
Randal Kolo Muani came on as a substitute, but the Lilywhites have a mighty challenge ahead of them, and the 28-year-old’s injury has arguably come at the worst time possible.

Alan Shearer believes Richarlison has tweaked his hamstring after the way he pulled up against Villa.
The striker was chasing a loose ball in the 28th minute but went down without facing any contact from the opposition defender, which will ring the alarm bells at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
It remains to be seen how serious the Brazilian national issue is, but things surely don’t look good for the North London outfit.
Speaking on BBC One on 10 January, Shearer said, “It’s going from bad to worse for Spurs this season. That’s the last thing they’ll need, an injury to Richarlison. It certainly looks like the hamstring — pulled up very, very quick.”
https://x.com/ChrisCowlin/status/2010053730050420957Frank’s job isn’t safe at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and a loss to Villa could potentially force the Lewis family’s hand, with supporters growing increasingly frustrated.
With an expectedly nervy start to the game from the Spurs players, the Danish manager needs to change things around at the break.
Thomas Frank has obvious game-changer on bench vs Aston Villa
Dominic Solanke has returned to the Tottenham bench, and he will undoubtedly be hoping for some minutes after the break.
The former Bournemouth striker has struggled with fitness issues this season, making just three appearances for Spurs under Frank.
While Richarlison has shown he’s reliable in front of goal, he has gone off with an injury, and Solanke is arguably the better finisher and should be on the pitch in the second half.
Villa started the game on the front foot and took the lead in the 22nd minute through Emi Buendia, woth Morgan Rogers scoring the second just before the break, and the North Londoners now undoubtedly need more firepower off the bench.
