Tottenham Hotspur sent 10 players to the World Cup at the start of the summer.

In the end, they would end up represented by 12 in total, with Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke becoming Spurs players during the tournament.

Now, there are four remaining with just one semi-final and the final to come.

Pedro Porro's Spain beat France 2-0 on Tuesday, with the Lilywhites full-back netting the second in Dallas.

As covered extensively by Tottenham News, Porro has had a fantastic World Cup, and is well-deserving of his, and Spain's, spot in Sunday's final.

And thanks to his heroics, Tottenham are set to make a piece of Premier League history.

Tottenham set the Premier League standard with international stat

With Spain beating France for a spot in the final, it is confirmed that a Spurs player will win this summer's World Cup.

In the other semi-final, England take on Argentina in Atlanta, with Djed Spence representing the Three Lions, while Cristian Romero and Senesi are on the side of La Albiceleste.

Remarkably, this means that Tottenham will become the first ever Premier League club to see one of their players lift the world's most famous trophy in three successive tournaments.

This run started in 2018, when captain Hugo Lloris triumphed with France, while Spurs were also incredibly well represented at the semi-final stage that summer.

Kieran Trippier, Dele Alli, Harry Kane, Eric Dier and Danny Rose all played for England in Russia, while defensive partnership Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen finished third with Belgium, in the same squad as Moussa Dembele.

In Qatar, current skipper Romero would triumph, overcoming previous winner Lloris.

Now, it is a guarantee that the same feat will happen again, with the only question being who will it be?

Tottenham quartet have taken contrasting routes to World Cup glory

Tottenham’s remaining representatives have all played very different roles on the way to the latter stages of the tournament.

Porro has arguably been the standout, establishing himself as Spain’s first-choice right-back during the knockout rounds and scoring twice, and proving a real asset out there with 233 successful passes and nine chances created.

Romero, meanwhile, has once again been a central figure for Argentina. The defender has started throughout their title defence, aside from the final group game against Jordan, and has also made an impact at the opposite end of the pitch.

Marcos Senesi has been more of a squad player for Argentina, although he completed the full 90 minutes against Jordan and won the penalty which led to their second goal.

Finally, Spence has grown into the tournament with England, with a string of fine cameos out on both the right and left - racking up 233 minutes in total.
