Why Savio's message to Tottenham teammate Omar Marmoush should serve as Nottingham Forest warning

Savio has not yet played with Omar Marmoush at Tottenham but has sent him a message following the 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United.

The pair have both arrived from Manchester City this summer, with Spurs hoping to push on from last season's disappointments.

So far, it has not gone well. Two defeats from the opening two Premier League games have left the Lilywhites in a poor position to start the campaign.

However, there is plenty of football still to be played and loads of time for things to turn around.

And the two new arrivals will know full well they can help be the key factors in doing so.

Savio's message to Marmoush may serve as a warning to Nottingham Forest on 5 September.

What has Savio said to Omar Marmoush following Tottenham debut?

Savio was not fit for Tottenham against Newcastle, with it said the Brazilian had felt fatigue.

It was certainly a blow for De Zerbi, especially with the South American impressing against Charlton.

Marmoush, though, was available and was given his debut.

While it did not end the way the Egyptian would have wanted, he has shared a message on Instagram to Tottenham fans, saying it was "special" to make his debut.

Additionally, he thanked them for the support and warm welcome.

Savio is among those that responded, with the winger simply stating: "Next game" with two winking emojis.

While it may just be a simple message showing he is excited to link back up with his former City teammate, it should serve as a warning for Nottingham Forest.

What is Savio and Marmoush's record like when used together?

Savio and Marmoush have played together on 30 occasions throughout their career.

And the duo have an excellent record on the pitch together.

In games where they have featured, they have won 20 out of those 30 - a 66.66 per cent win rate, as per Transfermarkt.

The pair have only combined once for a goal, but they also did play together against Nottingham Forest in the past too.

That ended in a 2-0 win for the duo in the FA Cup semi-final in 2024-2025.

Additionally, they both featured against an Oliver Glasner side in that same season, too, helping City to a 5-2 win against the now Forest manager.

De Zerbi will be hoping that already existing relationship can now bear fruit for Tottenham, as they still seek their first points of the season.
