Tottenham Hotspur secured a long-awaited 3-1 win against Coventry City on Monday.

Roberto De Zerbi took his players to Marbella last week as he looked to inspire a win in North London.

That looked to have worked a treat when James Maddison curled a stunning effort into the top corner after 14 minutes.

His strike should have inspired Spurs to a much-improved performance, but no one was too surprised when Jack Rudoni equalised for the away side.

It wasn't too long before the Lilywhites were back in the lead through an Omar Marmoush stunner before Ben Davies netted a surprise third on 96 minutes.

That made all the difference in the end as the hosts finally put a win on the board in the Premier League as we assess each player's performance.

Jan Paul van Hecke nearly let Tottenham down

There have certainly been questions for the summer signing since his move from Brighton.

Jan Paul van Hecke has made a number of errors as he has played his role in N17 struggles.

That continued against Coventry as he was caught out in possession before Rudoni went on to net an equaliser.

There were other frustrating elements to his performance as he put up just one tackle, while also losing two duels.

All anyone in North London will care about now is the win, but things could have been so different after Van Hecke's error.

James Maddison rolled back the years vs Coventry City

There was certainly a smile among the Spurs faithful when the attacking midfielder was named in the starting XI.

That hadn't been seen for a long time, and he certainly didn't waste any time.

Maddison scored the opener as he maintained a 100 per cent conversion rate with shots that weren't blocked.

He caused constant troubles for his former clubs as the 29-year-old was fouled on four occasions throughout his 69 minute cameo.

He added to that by putting up six defensive actions and four duel wins.

It was a positive return for Maddison, who now just needs to keep up that level.

Many have questioned if he is still capable of doing it at the highest level. Well this performance certainly silences his doubters.
