Tottenham Hotspur supporters may have an even bigger part to play against Everton than they previously imagined this weekend.

Spurs head into their final-day showdown at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium knowing that a point will keep them up.

That is thanks to their superior goal difference on West Ham, who are two points worse off and face Leeds United at home in their last match.

Tottenham fans need no reminding of how poor their side have been on home soil this campaign, while Everton have performed well on their travels.

But there is one stat that could work in Spurs' favour this weekend against a mid-table Everton outfit.

Everton unable to keep hold of leads

Everton have been chasing a European spot for most of the season but have badly faded in recent weeks, going six games without a win now.

The Toffees lost 3-1 to Sunderland last time out on home soil, although they have performed much better on their travels this campaign.

Indeed, only Manchester City and Arsenal have collected more away points than Everton in the Premier League this term.

But David Moyes' side are also winless in four away from Merseyside and lost 2-1 at West Ham United last time out.

Furthermore, Everton have showed a weak underbelly, as they have led at some point in each of their last three top-flight games but have failed to win any.

Only in October 1999 have they led but failed to win in four consecutive matches in the Premier League.

That just goes to show that should Everton take the lead on Sunday, and tensions reach fever pitch, Spurs fans need to remain patient and get fully behind Roberto De Zerbi's players.

Everton's dire record against Tottenham

De Zerbi's options are limited against Everton in terms of team selection, with James Maddison possibly set for a first start of the campaign.

Whatever side he sends out, they will no doubt be fired up knowing it is do-or-die as far as Tottenham's survival hopes are concerned.

And Spurs' record against Everton at home makes for good reading, having lost just one out of the past 16 meetings, winning 11 of those.

In fact, the Lilywhites have won the last four by an aggregate score of 13-1, so recent history is certainly on their side.

All this points towards what should be a memorable day for Tottenham fans for all the right reasons, with West Ham going down at their expense.
