Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel is now set to join Tottenham, according to Florian Plettenberg.

Tottenham and Bayern Munich had agreed a deal in principle over a £50million transfer for the 19-year-old on Thursday [via Le Parisien, 30 January], with Harry Kane expected to be involved in talks.

However, after face-to-face talks with Daniel Levy, Tel decided not to join Tottenham [via Fabrizio Romano, 31 January].

But, in a Deadline Day twist, Plettenberg has reported via X (3 February) that the Frenchman is now on his way to the club as he wants to join Spurs. As reported by Fabrizio Romano via X (3 February), the deal is a straight loan with no buy option.

Spurs supporters will likely have mixed feelings about this transfer. On the one hand, Ange Postecoglou needs players and Tel is someone who could benefit the Australian's squad.

However, after Tel previously rejected the club, some fans might have mixed feelings about welcoming him. It is clear that Tel didn't want to join Tottenham permanelty, but is happy to go there on loan.

Therefore, it demonstrates that he isn't necessarily that keen to be in North London, but needs a club to play football with between now and the end of the season.

As a result, is is difficult at this point to see how committed he will be to life at Tottenham.

However, if the youngster can help Spurs get across the line in some big games, fans will no doubt quickly forget that he originally rejected a move to the club.
