Supercomputer predicts chances of 15-year Tottenham first vs Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur are the underdogs as they head to Anfield to take on Liverpool in the Carabao Cup.

The two sides are in completely different places in the Premier League as things currently stand.

Liverpool have yet to lose a game - albeit results have not been perfect - while Spurs have been unable to find a first win of the season.

A victory at Anfield against Liverpool on Tuesday evening would be a significant confidence booster for Roberto De Zerbi's side.

However, Tottenham have not won at Anfield since 2010-2011, with 17 games at Liverpool's home ground since.

But, while the supercomputer shares its projections, De Zerbi has a record of his own that shows not all hope is lost.

What has the supercomputer predicted for Liverpool vs Tottenham?

The Opta supercomputer has returned with its latest projections for Spurs' Carabao Cup clash against Liverpool.

Unfortunately, a Tottenham win is judged to be the least likely outcome over 90 minutes.

Liverpool have been awarded a 57 per cent chance of beating Spurs, with the Lilywhites handed just 20 per cent of causing an upset.

A draw is slightly more likely at 22 per cent, which would send the fixture into a penalty shootout.

Spurs will be hoping for the game to be won in 90 minutes, particularly due to their penalty shootout record.

Tottenham have only won four of their last 10 penalty shootouts and have just a 36.4 per cent win rate from spot kicks in the Carabao Cup and it's previous renditions as per Transfermarkt.

It is not too much of a positive outlook, but De Zerbi could offer a fresh and more optimistic view of Spurs' chances.

Why Roberto De Zerbi will have confidence vs Liverpool

While Tottenham's record against Liverpool is quite poor, De Zerbi's is quite decent with all things said.

The Italian has faced the Reds on six occasions and things are evenly matched.

De Zerbi has two wins, two draws, and two losses against Liverpool, while his sides have scored 11 and also conceded 11.

In truth, there have been no major discrepancies for De Zerbi in games against Liverpool.

Furthermore, Andoni Iraola and De Zerbi both have one win in games against each other.

Hopefully, the 47-year-old can use that previous experience versus Liverpool to his advantage and relay further confidence into his players.

They will certainly need it in order to defy the supercomputer's latest projections.
