Scottish media react as Tottenham star Andy Robertson 'man possessed' on landmark night
Tottenham Hotspur full-back Andy Robertson made history for Scotland against North Macedonia.
Saturday night saw Robertson become only the second ever Scotland player to reach 100 caps.
Robertson has enjoyed a hugely impressive start to life as a Tottenham player after joining on a free from Liverpool in the summer.
He's been silencing a lot of his doubters regarding his ability to still be a top starting left-back in the Premier League at this stage of his career.
And his performance for the Tartan Army in Skopje will delight Roberto De Zerbi even more.
What did Scottish media say about Andy Robertson's display vs North Macedonia?
Scotland ran out 2-0 winners over North Macedonia in the Nations League on Saturday night.
Kieron Bowie and John McGinn scored the goals to help Sebastien Pocognoli's side to their first win of the group stages.
Scottish media were all in unison with their praise over Robertson's display too.
The Scotsman wrote: "A landmark game for the captain as he won his 100th cap.
"He was mightily impressive until the 83rd minute when a short pass put McKenna in trouble, otherwise his mark would be higher.
"Rampaged up the left flank and looked in the mood to score, with three efforts raining down on Dimitrievski. A night to remember for a Scotland legend. Eight."
The National said: "A performance befitting of becoming Scotland's second-ever centurion.
"Showed his intent with four strikes in the first half as he blitzed forward and caused North Macedonia problem after problem. Rarely challenged defensively, meaning he had the freedom to charge forward and do his best work in the opposition half.
"A professional display, especially after Scotland reduced to ten, in the words of James McFadden, 'A man possessed'. Eight."
Finally, the Scottish Sun wrote: "Joined King Kenny as Scotland centurion.
"Close to bagging fifth Scotland goal on big night after just four minutes but fierce strike was tipped over. Went close again twice in fittingly polished display…Eight."
So, just how good were Robertson's underlying numbers from the win over North Macedonia?
Where Robertson led all Scotland players vs North Macedonia
Despite being 32, Robertson is proving for both club and country that he's still got plenty left in the tank to offer.
Starting at left wing-back for Scotland on Saturday, he skippered the side to a big win, and his underlying numbers paint a clear picture of how good he was.
Per FotMob, no player in a Scotland shirt made more clearances than Robertson's six in the game.
Meanwhile, he also took four shots on goal, played five passes into the final third, completed three accurate long balls and attempted three crosses.
He also made six recoveries, two interceptions, one tackle, won two ground duels and won his only aerial duel as well.
It was the kind of display that will only further cement his place atop Tottenham's left-back pecking order over Destiny Udogie.
