Oliver Boast 'can be next Robbie Keane for Tottenham' after latest U18s scenes

Oliver Boast will be hoping to emulate Robbie Keane at Tottenham.

The 17-year-old followed the same path as the former Lilywhites star, who moved to White Hart Lane from Leeds United in August 2002.

Boast moved at youth level, whereas the Irishman was already an established star when he joined Spurs.

Keane notched 122 goals and 43 assists in 306 matches in two spells in North London.

He is widely regarded as one of the best strikers in the N17 outfit's history, and Boast will hope that he can follow the same path.

The English youngster is certainly starting strong after his latest exploits for Jamie Carr's Under-18 side.

Boast made the headlines again with a brace against Crystal Palace Under-18s on Saturday.

Spurs' youth team fought back to win the Under-18s Premier League clash 4-2 at the Eagles' training ground.

Boast's first was a penalty in the 58th minute to start the comeback, then he tapped home the rebound from Phoenix Offiah's effort to finish things off.

That took his tally to eight goals and four assists in four matches in the league so far this season.

Carr is already aware of Boast's ability, as he highlighted his approach after he notched a hat-trick against Birmingham in March 2026.

The Under-18s boss said: “Boasty is obviously happy with his match ball – he’s always hungry to score, which is really refreshing to see, regardless of what position he plays.”

What do the numbers say about what's next for Boast?

The underlying numbers behind Boast's season to date are very encouraging.

He has recorded 10 shots on target, and been caught offside five times in his four appearances.

Boast has made a total of 43 passes, and been involved in 12 ground duels, per data from the official club site.

Of course, the next step will be adapting to Under-21 level, before going on loan, following in the footsteps of Harry Kane and Mikey Moore, who spent time away from Hotspur Way to further their development.

There is a long way to go before he can put up similar numbers to Keane in the first-team picture, but the way he is playing right now tell us one thing for sure, he is too good for this level.

Once he tests himself at the higher level, or in the Football League then Spurs will have a real idea of what they have on their hands, and how far he can go within the game.
