Jamie O'Hara was stunned on talkSPORT when a supporter claimed Tottenham gem Lucas Bergvall "looks like a Backstreet Boy".

The young Swede started in midfield for Tottenham's 3-2 defeat to Galatasary in their Europa League clash and didn't impress one supporter in particular.

On a live call in on talkSPORT, 7 November at 10:22 pm, one Spurs fan claimed Bergvall should "join a boyband" and that he looks "like a Backstreet Boy".

O'Hara said in response to the claim: "It's a bit harsh, come on. Honestly, you do come out with some garbage."

Spurs need to be patient with Lucas Bergvall

Bergvall is a player who possesses serious potential and ability that perhaps hasn’t quite shone through at Spurs so far.

It seems easy to forget he is still only 18 years old with plenty of time on his side to develop as a player.

Tottenham fought off some serious competition in the Swede with Newcastle United, Manchester United and Barcelona all reportedly interested in a deal for the midfielder who ultimately decided to join Ange Postecoglou’s side.

In a way, criticism showcases how good of a player he can be and supporters know that. If a player isn’t living up to the ability they have, that tends to be when they face criticism and that is certainly the case for Bergvall.

With a plethora of midfielders at the club, Spurs won’t be in any rush to throw him into the deep end and instead see gradual development in the midfielder before he can stake a claim in the starting 11 consistently.

That bodes well for him as well. With the gradual development and tasters of first-team football, the amount of pressure on the youngster is reduced dramatically and that will only aid his journey as he seeks to make a career at Premier League level.
