Morgan Rogers has just highlighted the Djed Spence weapon Tottenham can't afford to waste
Morgan Rogers has been full of compliments for Tottenham defender Djed Spence in the England camp.
Spence has played a big role at the World Cup so far, playing at both right and left-back.
He would be drafted in for Nico O'Reilly in the second group match against Ghana, before later being of use at right-back due to layoffs for Reece James and Jarell Quansah.
Spence's versatility has played a huge part in his rise at Tottenham, with the 25-year-old more than capable of playing on either side.
There are flaws in the attacking side of his game, but Spence is a defensive star.
With this in mind, even England teammate Rogers agrees with the one trait that Spurs must get the best out of.
What did Morgan Rogers say as Djed Spence takes over press conference?
Ahead of England's clash with Norway on Saturday, Rogers took part in his media duties.
Teammate Spence also turned up at the press conference on Wednesday, with it joked that he was a 'trainee reporter'.
Spence said: "There's been a lot of speculation in recent weeks about who is fastest in the squad. Is it true that Djed Spence is the fastest in the squad?"
Joining in on the fun, Rogers said: "Lets just say that I wouldn't bet against you in a race.
"But, there are a couple saying they could have you, Anthony Gordon being one of them, so I would like to see that race. But I wouldn't bet against you."
How do Tottenham get the best out of Spence?
Heading into next season, Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi does have a slight problem, with Spence not being a guaranteed starter.
Pedro Porro is undroppable, while De Zerbi may prefer a natural left-footer on the opposite flank.
But Spence brings a crucial attribute in his speed, especially on the defensive side.
In the Premier League last term, he finished as the third-fastest player, having recorded a top speed of 36.62 km/h against Wolves in April.
This figure sits just behind the 37.30 km/h and 36.74 km/h of Jackson Tchatchoua and Gabriel Martinelli.
For Spurs, Spence made 111 recoveries last season, while he registered 44 tackles, being dribbled past just 10 times.
He may not be the first name on the teamsheet, but his pace is an attribute Spurs must keep hold of, with the defensive reward being huge should he be kept around the squad.
And even with this considered, there is no reason as to why he cannot force himself into the side.
