Keith Hackett left in no doubt over 'Unacceptable' Sandro Tonali footage he saw in Tottenham vs Getafe

Sandro Tonali should have been sent off for a loss of control in Tottenham Hotspur's friendly Getafe, Keith Hackett has said.

Spurs played a behind-closed-doors friendly with the LaLiga outfit on Saturday.

The game, which was played in two 35-minute halves, finished 1-1 at Hotspur Way as Spurs continued their pre-season preparations.

Conor Gallagher scored Tottenham's goal, which cancelled out Alberto Risco's effort for the visitors.

But Tonali, signed in a £100million deal from Premier League rivals Newcastle United in the summer, was involved in a major flashpoint.

Former FIFA referee and PGMOL chief Hackett felt that Tonali was fortunate not to have been given his marching orders.

Tottenham News covered Tottenham ace Tonali causing a coming together between the teams with his shoving of Mario Martin.

Tonali had escaped the attention of his midfield opponent, who then reacted with a tepid late lunge on the Italian.

That led to Tonali chasing Martin and giving him a shove. Not content with that, he squared up to him again and caused a melee between the teams.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Hackett believes that Martin should have been cautioned for his role in the scuffle.

But he thinks that the officials should have taken a much sterner action with Tonali for his reaction.

Hackett said: "I'm disappointed that the match officials failed to recognise and act and apply the law.

"Tonali really should have received a red card for his unacceptable behaviour and a clear loss of self control.

"I would also have issued a yellow card to (Martin) for unsporting behaviour."

What's next up for Tottenham Hotspur?

Tonali and his Spurs team-mates are working towards full fitness with the return of the Premier League on the horizon.

After starting their warm-up fixtures with a 1-0 win over MK Dons, Spurs went unbeaten against Auckland FC, Sydney FC, and Chelsea in their tour of New Zealand and Australia.

Roberto De Zerbi's side now face back-to-back friendlies against Bundesliga side Hoffenheim this weekend.

Spurs will first face off against Hoffenheim on Saturday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, before facing the same opponents in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Sunday.

Then they will travel across London to face Brentford for their Premier League opener on 22 August.

Let's hope Tonali manages to keep his cool when there are plenty more eyes on him in that one.
