Juventus are reportedly becoming increasingly keen on signing Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence this summer.

The 25-year-old has begun to lose his grip on a starting role with Tottenham in recent weeks, having been part of only one of Roberto De Zerbi's five Spurs lineups so far.

Having moved to N17 from Middlesbrough back in the summer of 2022, Spence has never quite been able to truly cement himself as a starting player in North London.

Indeed, he's been shipped out on numerous loan spells with Leeds, Rennes and Genoa respectively to varying degrees of success.

So, with Tottenham expected to have a big transfer clear-out this summer, the four-cap England international could be one of those on the move.

What's the latest on Juventus' interest in Djed Spence?

Having spent time in Italian football with Genoa in the 2023-24 season, Spence could well be on his way back to Serie A for 2026-27.

Juventus have been linked with Spence over the last couple of months, with Luciano Spalletti's side currently sitting third in the Italian top flight.

Now, according to a fresh report from Caught Offisde, it's claimed that Spence is now the subject of growing interest from Juventus.

The Old Lady are reported to be looking for additions at the full-back spot, and whilst Spence is expected to have numerous options, it's said that Juventus' interest is the most firm at this moment in time.

Would Spence be a starter for Juventus?

Juventus would certainly be a big and high-profile move for Spence, but would it be a wise one in terms of his playing time prospects?

Spalletti has routinely between playing with three and four at the back this season, so that could suit Spence's versatile nature, as he's capable of operating down either flank as a traditional full-back or as an attacking wing-back.

In terms of potential competition, Pierre Kalulu and makeshift wing-back Weston McKennie would be his primary rivals at right-back/right wing-back, and he would probably feel confident of his starting prospects over those two.

On the left, meanwhile, Juve have slightly more strength in depth, with Filip Kostic, Andrea Cambiaso and Juan Cabal respectively all defensive options there.

Cambiaso in particular has been good this season, scoring three times and providing six assists in 49 total appearances, so Spence's best chance of a starting role in Turin would likely be down the right.
