How Omar Marmoush rated at half-time in Tottenham debut vs Newcastle
Omar Marmoush made his Tottenham debut in their clash with Newcastle on Saturday evening.
Spurs completed the signing from Manchester City in an initial loan deal on Thursday.
They will be obliged to pay £60million for his services next summer, as part of the transfer.
Roberto De Zerbi threw the Egyptian straight into the starting line-up for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
There were concerns that the 27-year-old did not have much time on the training pitch with his new side.
However, his impact was apparent, even though the sides went into the break level at 0-0.
How has Omar Marmoush fared in Tottenham vs Newcastle?
Marmoush has had a total of 16 touches in the contest so far, which does not seem like much.
However, he has already created two chances for a teammate, with one pass into the final third, per FotMob.
The 55-cap international has had one touch in the final third, which suggests that the Lilywhites are not getting him enough service.
That led to a glorious chance when Andy Robertson's corner fell to him at the back post in the 32nd minute, but he could only fire wide of the post.
Marmoush also completed all eight of the passes that he attempted for a 100 per cent success rate, and nearly set up Robertson with one.
Defensively, he has one contribution, with a single recovery to his name and has won three of the four ground duels that he has contested.
Perhaps the most encouraging data will be the physical stats, as he has recorded an average top speed of 20.19mph in the clash.
What is next for De Zerbi and Marmoush?
The next step for De Zerbi is figuring how to get the best out his newest star and how to get him move involved.
The former Etihad Stadium star has been isolated so far, and has had to make the most out of the scraps that he has had.
He needs to be a focal point of the team, and so far that is not happening for the N17 outfit.
More work needs to be done in training to ensure that his teammates have a better understanding of where he will be on the pitch and how to get the ball to him.
