Why Tottenham's Dejan Kulusevski plan makes perfect sense after Mohammed Kudus injury return
Tottenham Hotspur attacker Dejan Kulusevski has become somewhat of a forgotten figure in North London.
The Sweden international has been out with an injury for 15 months now and isn't expected to be back anytime soon.
It makes sense for the Lilywhites to take caution with the 26-year-old former Juventus forward before bringing him back into the fold.
For now, Roberto De Zerbi can rely on Mohammed Kudus at Spurs, with the Ghana international expected to return to training soon.
The former West Ham United star is likely in for a massive campaign in N17 after picking up a hamstring injury in January.
With plans in place for the two attackers as they return from injury, the North London outfit have certainly made the right call after the latest developments.
Where Dejan Kulusevski stands as Tottenham rehab underway
Kulusevski's rehabilitation at Tottenham seems to be going well, as he has been seen working on the ball.
While the Swedish attacker is clearly making progress, he's not yet back in training with the team and will be phased back slowly when ready, according to football.london journalist Alasdair Gold.
The Spurs reporter also added that Kudus is going to be a "huge player" for De Zerbi, with the forward rejoining the group after the Australia and New Zealand tour.
Before Kudus was injured, he was one of the few players who made an impact in the Premier League for the North Londoners, scoring two goals, providing five assists, creating three big chances and recording 1.3 key passes per game, as per Sofascore.
In the Ghanaian winger's 19 league appearances, he averaged 2.7 dribbles and 1.5 crosses per game.
Kudus also put in a defensive shift, with 1.5 tackles, winning 5.6 duels and recovering the ball five times per game.
Spurs have the luxury of taking their time with Kulusevski as the ex-West Ham ace looks ready to build on his numbers in N17.
Where Roberto De Zerbi needs help with Spurs transfer chase
Creativity wasn't an issue for Tottenham last season as they finished 17th in the Premier League.
The North London outfit averaged 1.9 big chances per game, but missed 1.2 of those, according to Sofascore.
What De Zerbi is clearly in desperate need of is a clinical goalscorer.
Richarlison and Dominic Solanke's inconsistencies at Spurs have frustrated fans and after significant investment in other areas of the pitch, it's time for ENIC to splash the cash on a reliable number nine.
