Bryan King has speculated that Tottenham defender Cristian Romero could be out for up to six months after an injury claim emerged from Argentina.

The ex-Spurs scout believes any injury to the centre-back would be a "serious blow" for Ange Postecoglou.

Romero hobbled off in Spurs' 4-1 Premier League win over Aston Villa at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (3 November). As reported by TyC Sports (3 November), the 26-year-old has set off "alarm bells" in Argentina with suggestions that he might have suffered a bone injury.

However, King - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - believes no judgement on the extent of the injury can be made as of yet.

“Obviously you don’t want any player of that quality out for a long time,” King said.

“When we start talking about bone injuries, it could be a fracture, a break or maybe it is just heavily bruised.

“Let’s hope for the best because this could be a serious blow for the team and for Postecoglou. However, let’s wait until we get conclusive evidence.

“You can’t really judge or assess how long the injury will be as of yet. If it is a badly bruised bone, he could be out for just a fortnight. However, if it is a break, he could be out for six months.

“The sooner we find out the extent of it, the easier it will be to speculate."

Ange Postecoglou faces wait to discover extent of Cristian Romero injury at Tottenham

Romero is an incredibly tough player who doesn't come off easily. Therefore, the fact that he was forced off against Unai Emery's side would have raised concerns.

Spurs supporters are facing an anxious wait to see how long they will be without the defender. This injury has come at a particularly bad time, with Micky van de Ven also sidelined.
