Ryan Norys set to quit Tottenham in major financial blow
Tottenham Hotspur are about to lose a key member of their backroom staff in Ryan Norys.
Having joined the North London outfit from AS Roma in 2022, he's set to end his four-year spell at the club.
Norys started as the Lilywhites' commercial director, but was appointed as the Chief Revenue Officer in February 2024
MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group have snapped Norys up from Spurs.
He will join the company's leadership team and take charge as Chief Commercial Officer.
For now, Norys is focused on his role at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but will be missed after his eventual departure.
What Ryan Norys achieved at Tottenham
While on-field performances have declined at Tottenham in recent seasons, they've done things right off it.
Moving to the new stadium has opened up various avenues, which the North Londoners have taken full advantage of.
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has hosted NFL matches in recent years and held some high-profile concerts by different celebrities.
Norys, as Chief Revenue Officer, surely must have played a big part in it, and his exit will be a significant financial blow for the club.
Announcing his departure from Spurs on LinkedIn on 23 September, Norys said, "Commercial revenue has grown 51% during my time at the Club, an achievement that belongs to the talented people I've had the privilege of working alongside, both past and present."
What's going wrong at Spurs under Roberto De Zerbi?
It feels like Tottenham are stuck in a vicious cycle, with no end in sight.
Roberto De Zerbi was appointed towards the end of last season to help the North London outfit avoid relegation, and managed to pull it off.
The Lilywhites then went on to spend more than £320million on new signings for the Italian manager in the summer.
Instead of making progress this season, Spurs seem to have gone backwards despite some significant investment.
De Zerbi's style of play may be too complicated for the players to understand immediately and it looks like he needs more time in N17.
In the short term, the Italian head coach needs to find a solution for Tottenham's lack of goals, with Dominic Solanke and Omar Marmoush not helping the cause with their lacklustre performances.
