Jerry Jones arrives in London for Tottenham takeover as race begins

Tottenham could soon have a new owner in Jerry Jones as the takeover race appears to be hotting up in front of Daniel Levy.

The North Londoners have initially been in talks to sell a minority stake [The Times, 27 July] as ENIC and the Lilywhites’ chairman look for fresh investments.

Spurs are one of the biggest teams in the Premier League, but they have nothing to show for their stature in terms of silverware.

Levy has come under severe criticism from the supporters over the years for the way he has run the North London club, and the money being spent on reinforcements is one of the things that supporters haven’t been happy about.

The Lilywhites evidently need more financial power to compete with the big guns, and Amanda Staveley is one of the names interested in buying a stake and future takeover [The Athletic, 23 October].

Jerry Jones could seal Tottenham takeover

While things with Staveley haven’t seen any progress, Jones could be someone set to purchase more than initial shares at Spurs, and the takeover race seems to have fully begun.

The American’s private jet and yacht are in London to potentially buy the North London club, according to what sources have told PFT Commenter, who has one million followers [X, 3 December].

Jones has a net worth of around £12 billion, with his most valuable holding at the moment being the Dallas Cowboys [Forbes], and he could soon add Tottenham to his portfolio.

Spurs have seen a shift in their style of play since Ange Postecoglou’s arrival, which the fans have welcomed, but the Australian may need a better squad to do something special in N17.

Levy has been reluctant to put his hands in his pocket until now, but it remains to be seen whether that will change with Jones or others becoming a part of the Lilywhites.

The takeover race has really kicked into gear now.
