In The Money: It makes no sense for Tottenham to renegotiate £40m Dele Alli deal with Everton

ANALYSIS

Tottenham could be in line to bring in £40million in total should Dele Alli get his career back on track at Everton after his permanent move back in 2022.

It was reported that if all clauses are met during his Goodison Park spell, the Toffees will be forced to pay the cash sum in full.

Despite those clauses not yet being met, Sean Dyche has recently insisted that Everton chief Kevin Thelwell could look to enter talks with Spurs to renegotiate.

Alli is currently injured, but Dyche admitted that once he is fit to play, talks could begin to find a resolution with Tottenham over a new deal structure [The Mirror].

Given that Spurs themselves are seven games away from £10million, that is very possible to happen this season should the playmaker put his injury worries behind him.

Everton are struggling financially with a Premier League hearing set for October over profit and sustainability regulations, but that isn’t the problem of Tottenham.

Daniel Levy could have signed off on a brilliant deal should Alli get back to playing, with his £5.2million annual wages also off the books on top of this. [Sporx]

Spurs

Tottenham are not in the business of handing out discounts, and bringing a potential £40million into the club over the next couple of years would be great for the books.

This is a player who was signed for only an initial £5million back in 2015, with some severe profit now on the cards should Alli get back to business – something everyone hopes is coming soon.

Any renegotiation simply makes no sense.

In other Tottenham news, according to an injury expert, one senior player could be set for a six-month spell on the sidelines.
