In the Money: Daniel Levy tops Premier League table with seven-figure Tottenham wage

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is paid more than all other Premier League directors with a wage of £3.3million.

The 61-year-old has been on the board at Spurs since 2000 when the club was purchased by ENIC, and he was made the league’s youngest chairman in 2001.

As per Tottenham’s latest 2021/22 accounts, Levy is paid an annual wage of £3.3million in North London.

That figure is higher than all other Premier League directors, with Brighton’s Paul Barber placing second with a wage of £400,000 less.

Former Manchester United director Ed Woodward previously held the title of highest-paid director, but his resignation at Old Trafford has left Levy at the top.

Man City are the only Premier League club to not publish their director pay, but CEO Ferran Soriano’s wages are expected to compete with Levy at the top of the table.

Tottenham’s wage bill for the 2021/22 season was £209million, an increase of £4million from the year prior.

Levy’s wage equates to £62,000 per week, placing his weekly wage packet above many first-team players.

The average wage for a first-team player at Tottenham in 2022/23 was reportedly £4.4million per year.

During his time at Tottenham, Levy has overseen a huge growth in revenue as well as the construction of the club’s 62,850-capacity stadium.

However, Levy’s financial success off-the-pitch has not yet translated to on-pitch success during his 22 years as chairman, with Spurs’ League Cup triumph in 2008 their only silverware under his tenure.
