Finance Expert reacts to potential MSP Sports Capital investment at Tottenham

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist, he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Tottenham.

Dan Plumley has insisted that MSP Sports Capital could now look to engage in talks with Tottenham again over new investment and a potential takeover.

The finance expert believes that Daniel Levy would look for at least £3billion to sell Spurs, with the asking price potentially starting above that.

It comes after reports emerged that the American consortium investing in Everton is now looking unlikely after initial talks with Levy and Spurs.

“I think this is the thing with these players in the mix,” he exclusively told Tottenham News.

“If they don’t get in with another club, they will look to target another if they’re interested in football.

“We’ve spoken about Spurs being an attractive investment proposition with what’s happened with the new stadium and how that’s starting to generate some real revenue now, the area it is in, good geographic stamp on it there for owners and investors.

“Obviously, dependent on Champions League qualification, there is a lot to like about that model. Again, it comes back to the difference between Spurs and Everton, the minority investment versus a full Spurs takeover, the price is a lot higher to get in, so you’re going to be talking £3billion to buy Spurs at least, I would think, the owners may ask for a little bit more.

“It depends on whether you want full control and what you’re willing to pay, but again, you can see why Spurs are an attractive investment proposition and MSP seem keen to get more of a foothold in the market.

“We may see that one come back around if the Everton one is out of play.”

This will certainly be one to watch in the future, with the ownership of Spurs certainly contentious among the faithful fans around the club.

Levy has never been that popular and with the recent sacking of Antonio Conte leaving things in the air right now, things could also be changing in the boardroom.
