Tottenham Hotspur have well and truly entered a new era this summer.

After years of careful and limited spending in the transfer market, they've exploded into life under Roberto De Zerbi.

Despite being one of the most financially healthy clubs in world football, that was never translated onto the pitch.

Ange Postecoglou delivered a Europa League title, but struggles continued in the Premier League with several managers.

Fans often directed their anger at Daniel Levy, and while he still holds shares in Spurs, he is no longer chairman.

And after the latest news from the boardroom, his influence is only going to continue getting smaller.

What is the latest on Tottenham share issues?

Now under more direct control of the Lewis family, investments are starting to be seen frequently.

Whether on or off the pitch, big money is being thrown around.

Tottenham have already spent over £200million and are the big spenders in the Premier League this summer.

With that, has come further investment from the Lewis', with around £200m pumped into club since September.

But, as they continue to spend, Levy is once again more cautious.

Bloomberg has now reported that Levy missed the latest chance to participate in a fresh team share issue.

It's reported that the former chairman asked for a deadline extension, but still missed that, too.

Levy did commit to the funding, but failed to follow through, meaning his stake in ENIC will be diluted from 29 per cent.

Why it's different at Tottenham under Lewis family

They are prioritising one thing, and that's finally the football.

For too long, Tottenham and Levy were too worried about what they looked like off pitch.

Don't get us wrong, the new stadium, facilities and financial position of the club would make anyone jealous, but what did it actually bring?

Years of mediocrity on the pitch.

Tottenham would never have signed Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke in one transfer window all those years ago.

Now, the Lewis' want the success on the pitch to mimic that off it.

Levy always talked a big game in that regard, but never delivered until the Europa League, which, not to take away from it, is what Spurs should be challenging for every single year, if not more.

With this share issue deadline missed, it could be the beginning of the end for good with Levy, who still has a small grip behind the scenes.
