Bryan King believes any release clause in Cristian Romero's Tottenham contract would be worth at least £75million.

The ex-Spurs scout claims it will be up to the club and Ange Postecoglou whether or not the centre-back moves on from North London.

King - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - feels that any release clause would be worth much more than £54million.

“Romero is under contract, which means the club and Postecoglou will decide when it is time for him to leave," King said.

“He cost more than £40million. Therefore, he is never going to leave for £54million, especially not after winning the World Cup.

“If there was a release clause, it would be far bigger than that. We’d be talking a minimum of at least £75million, especially in today’s market.

Cristian Romero to move on from Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham?

Romero remains one of the club's most important players, despite his worrying form this season.

Therefore, any suggestions that he could leave will no doubt be met with fear among Spurs fans, even if the club do already have a potential replacement lined up.

Supporters, and most importantly Postecoglou, will want to keep hold of the 26-year-old.

However, with the likes of Real Madrid sniffing around (via TyC Sports, 9 September), that will be a lot easier said than done.

Therefore, if Romero is to move on, fans will hope the club can get as much money as possible for him.
