Tottenham urged to sell player right now after what happened in second half at Old Trafford

It was yet another day to forget for Tottenham on Saturday.

Tottenham were beaten 2-0 by Man United at Old Trafford in the Saturday lunch-time kick-off, piling further misery on Thomas Frank‘s side.

Cristian Romero was shown a straight red card after just 29 minutes, as the Tottenham captain smashed into a challenge with Casemiro that saw the United defender get caught high on the ankle by the Spurs defender.

From there, it was all but a training exercise for United, with Bryan Mbuemo opening the scoring on 38 minutes, before Bruno Fernandes made sure of the three points with a little under 10 minutes to play.

Tottenham fans ask for Destiny Udogie sale

Destiny Udogie has consistently battled injuries since signing for Tottenham in the summer of 2022, with the Italian defender largely suffering from knee and hamstring problems.

The 23-year-old has already missed a number of games this season through injury, which has prevented him from really cementing his place in Frank’s starting XI.

And, in Saturday’s defeat to United, Udogie was forced to be withdrawn through injury after 55 minutes, being replaced by debutant Souza.

Now, Udogie has seemingly run out of chances with many Spurs fans, and a host of supporters are now calling for the defender to be sold due to his inability to remain injury-free for a consistent period of time.

“We’ll sell him (Udogie) and he’ll never have an injury again,” joked one Tottenham fan.

Another Spurs supporter said: “Sell Udogie, enough is enough.”

Udogie’s injury issues could point further to Tottenham medical team failings

Tottenham’s medical team have faced significant criticism in recent times for how they’ve handled player injuries, both in terms of not recognising problems and rushing players back before they’re ready.

Spurs’ medical staff were slammed regarding Lucas Bergvall’s injury against Dortmund last month, where the midfielder was told to play on for over 10 minutes, despite the fact he was clearly injured.

That wasn’t the first incident that they’ve came under fire for either, with fans at the time of Bergvall’s situation referencing past incidents involving the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski respectively.

So, it does beg the question, is the fact that Udogie struggles to stay fit his fault, nobody’s fault, or perhaps something that the Tottenham medical team need to be held accountable for?
