Tottenham urged to axe Son Heung-min after what he did v Man United: ‘Days are numbered’

Ange Postecoglou has hardly been able to rely on Son Heung-min this season at Tottenham.

The attacker has been miles off the pace in most of the games he’s played this season and has only scored six Premier League goals.

Spurs’ injury woes have likely kept the South Korea international in Postecoglou’s starting plans in recent weeks but with the likes of Brennan Johnson returning, the Australian could look at other options.

And, after his recent performance in the 1-0 win against Manchester United on 16 February, it looks like fans are starting to lose their patience with the captain.

Tottenham to bench Son Heung-min

Son was chosen to start by Postecoglou in Spurs’ win over Manchester United on Sunday and he once again failed to live up to expectations.

However, there was one moment in particular where Spurs could have doubled their lead that proved that Son wasn’t with it.

The attacker picked the ball up from the edge of the box after an impressive counter-attack, and took it around a couple of defenders, only to strike it straight into the feet of Matthijs de Ligt.

Tottenham fans were fuming on social media, with one even claiming that his “days are numbered”.

Son Heung-min’s days at Tottenham could be numbered

Although he’s been in poor form this season, it goes without saying that Son’s legacy at Tottenham will be ever-lasting.

The South Korea international joined the North London club back in 2015 and has become a legend in the decade he’s plied his trade for them.

However, as he’s getting into the latter stages of his career, it feels like Son is getting less effective for Postecoglou and he has certainly dropped off since last term.

When Harry Kane was still with Tottenham, Son thrived but he has never been the same since his big-money move to Bayern Munich.

And, even though players such as Dominic Solanke have been brought in to try and bolster Spurs’ ranks, it doesn’t feel like they’re going to get back to their glory days of the Champions League final any time soon.

However, if Son can’t manage to get back to his best and become Postecoglou’s star man again, it’s hard to see how he can warrant being given a starting spot for much longer.
