Tottenham told to ‘get rid’ of Maddison after what he did v Rangers – ‘Pathetic’

Tottenham have been urged to sell “bottle job ” James Maddison after his performance in the 1-1 draw with Rangers.

Ange Postecoglou’s side were held in the Europa League clash at Ibrox (12 December) in a result which only increased the intense pressure on the Australian.

Spurs are winless in their last five matches in all competitions and Maddison has been extremely inconsistent so far this season.

The 28-year-old played the full 90 minutes on Thursday but failed to impact the contest in a disappointing showing for a supposed leader in the squad.

Tottenham fans call for Maddison axe

The Englishman has been destroyed by supporters on social media after his lacklustre performance, with one fan writing on X: “Having Son and Maddison on the pitch is like playing with 9 men. Johnson anonymous too and Werner is in the negative. Genuinely get rid of them all.”

Another commented: “James Maddison shouldn’t start a game for spurs – he’s an absolute bottle job. Bench warmer”

The England international is supposed to be a leader in the Spurs dressing room but his inconsistent performances in recent weeks have left a lot to be desired.

He was the driving force in the 4-0 victory over Manchester City (23 November) when he scored two goals but has been in a poor run of form following that contest.

Spurs need their leaders to step up in a tough period and drag the club to positive results but this has not happened and scrutiny on Postecoglou has increased as a result.
