Tottenham told to ban Maddison after overnight social media post – ‘Shambles’

James Maddison has sparked outrage among certain sections of the Tottenham fanbase after he hit back at a supporter on social media.

Spurs’ poor run of form continued as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Wolves in the Premier League at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (29 December), with Daniel Levy urged to make a statement on Ange Postecoglou after the match.

Postecoglou angered supporters ahead of kick-off and was told to leave the club after he benched Maddison against Wolves.

However, this didn’t seem to dampen Maddison’s spirits, with the midfielder pictured in attendance at the World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace alongside Brennan Johnson in a post shared via the PDC’s official Instagram account late on Sunday (29 December).

One Spurs fan page called Maddison out in the comments section for attending the darts after another disappointing result, to which the 28-year-old responded, “Shut up you wally”.

James Maddison angers Tottenham supporters

Maddison is thought to be unhappy in North London and has been tipped to exit Spurs next summer.

And this latest spat with one of his own supporters won’t do anything to quieten those rumours, with one fan calling for the Englishman to be banned after his comment, while another claimed the club is a “shambles.”

While some supporters did suggest that perhaps people were overeating to Maddison’s comment, telling one of your own fans to shut up doesn’t seem like such a good idea.

As a result, it wouldn’t be a surprise if this was the beginning of the end for Maddison at Tottenham.
