Tottenham told ‘get rid of Romero’ for free after ‘pathetic’ scenes v Bournemouth
Cristian Romero has been linked away from Tottenham, and it appears some fans want him gone after what happened against Bournemouth.
Spurs fans would have been delighted to see Romero return to the starting lineup for the Premier League clash with the Cherries at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (9 March).
However, it didn’t take long for those same fans to turn on the Argentinian.
Bournemouth were by far and away the better team in North London during the first half, with the visitors taking the lead after Marcus Tavernier got on the end of Milos Kerkez’s delightful cross to the far post just before half time.
While Romero wasn’t necessarily at fault for this goal, he wasn’t himself in the opening 45 minutes, and was lucky not to give away a goal in the opening stages of the match.
Tottenham fans want Romero moved on
Romero was all over the place for Spurs in the first half.
The 26-year-old gave the ball away to Evanilson on the edge of his own penalty area with one of his first touches of the game and would have been breathing a deep sigh of relief after Guglielmo Vicario saved the striker’s shot.
Romero has constantly been linked with a move away from North London, with suggestions that Tottenham could charge as much as £80million. However, some fans have suggested they would be happy to let him go for free after his performance against Bournemouth.
Tottenham fans need to be patient with Romero
There is no denying that Romero was far from his best against Bournemouth.

However, it was his first competitive appearance in three months. Therefore, he was bound to be a bit rusty. Fans are understandably frustrated considering how long it has taken the centre-back to get himself fit again.
However, he will need time to get back to his best, and Spurs fans need to get behind him, especially with the second leg of their UEFA Europa League Round of 16 clash against AZ Alkmaar to come at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday (13 March).
