Tottenham star in ‘heartbreaking’, ‘devastating’ blow – fans react

Ella Morris became a key player for Tottenham during the closing WSL games, but has now left Lioness supporters heartbroken after a devastating new reveal.

Robert Vilahamn has struggled this season after leading Tottenham to the FA Cup final in 2023/24, finishing 11th in the Women’s Super League after a disappointing campaign.

The Lilywhites added to their nine-game winless streak on the final day of the WSL with a 1-1 draw to Everton, taking their total up to 10 matches.

Now, another injury has added salt into the wounds of Spurs supporters who no doubt will be waiting to awaken from this nightmare.

Fans are ‘heartbroken’ for Ella Morris after injury blow

Morris was on cloud nine after being named for the first time in Sarina Wiegman’s England team to face Portugal in the Nations League on Friday (30 May).

However, Morris will be returning to Hotspur Way sooner than anticipated after suffering an ACL injury during training.

England wrote in a statement on X on Wednesday (28 May): “Ella Morris has suffered an ACL injury in training and will return to Tottenham Hotspur to begin her rehabilitation.”

Manchester City’s Laura Blindkilde Brown has now joined the Lionesses as a replacement for the Tottenham defender.

England fans under the post expressed their deepest concerns and sympathies for the player who will certainly miss a large part of next season.

Tottenham dealt another blow

Morris is not the first player to suffer an ACL at Tottenham this season after Kit Graham sustained the same injury during pre-season training in September.

The defender who signed for Tottenham last summer spent much of their WSL campaign on the sidelines due to another knee injury, making just one appearance before returning in February.

She went on to start in all 8 of Spurs’ final WSL games and scored her first goal for the club and the league during a 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa at Brisbane Road.

As one of Tottneham’s best performers during the closing part of the season, the 22-year-old’s injury will come as a huge blow for Vilahamn.

But with the summer transfer window on the horizon and a need to improve for the new season, Spurs may need to consider replacing the defender for the time being.
