Tottenham slammed for not learning lessons as Levy sanctions another exit

Tottenham are set to allow several more young players to leave on loan in the coming weeks.

Mikey Moore and Alejo Veliz have already been granted exits, with the former joining Russell Martin-led Rangers.

And Luka Vuskovic and Yang Min-hyeok, among others, are expected to join them in securing loan moves in the coming weeks, with Thomas Frank keen to prioritise experience as he attempts to steady the ship at Spurs.

The decision to loan out Vuskovic has attracted some criticism given the defender’s impressive performances in pre-season, but there is doubts over the 18-year-old’s readiness to challenge for Premier League minutes.

Lankshear move draws criticism

Will Lankshear is also among the young players who will spend the season away from Frank’s team, with the striker looking to build on his time at West Brom last season.

The striker moved to The Hawthorns for the second half of the campaign and showed promise, despite consistent minutes being hard to come by.

The 20-year-old is thought to be among Spurs’ most exciting young attackers, after impressing massively with the Under-21 team.

Lankshear has already scored his first goal for the first team in North London, netting against Galatasaray in the Europa League group stage last season.

And he has impressed in pre-season, too, scoring the first goal of Frank’s Tottenham era when he headed home from Vuskovic’s flick-on against Reading.

A second loan to West Brom looked to be an obvious option for Lankshear, given Ryan Mason’s appointment as head coach at The Hawthorns.

But Spurs have instead decided to send the striker to Oxford United, with the club official confirming the move on Tuesday (5 August).

Fans of the Lilywhites have questioned the decision, however, with one describing the loan as “terrible” following fellow Spurs youngster Dane Scarlett’s time with the U’s last season.

Spurs fans should exercise caution

Tottenham fans are well within their rights to be cautious about the development of their brightest young talents.

Caution should be exercised when looking at Scarlett’s loan last season, however.

The forward did ultimately make 22 appearances for the Championship side, and his experience should not be used to define expectations over Lankshear’s move.
