Tottenham fans tear into Daniel Levy after Postecoglou sack news – ‘Cowardly’

Daniel Levy has once again managed to make himself the pantomime villain among Tottenham fans.

It was announced on Friday (6 June) that Postecoglou had been sacked by Tottenham.

An official statement was released, pointing towards Spurs’ woeful Premier League record in his time in charge of the North London club as the prevailing factor behind the decision.

Levy has been courting potential replacements behind the scenes, with Thomas Frank now the clear favourite to step into the newly vacant role.

It puts an end to weeks of keeping fans and players alike in the dark over Spurs’ direction. However, it was not the news the majority were hoping to start their weekend with.

Tottenham fans call out Levy for his decision

The Lilywhites have had a tumultuous relationship with their chairman, with plenty of protests being staged throughout the season as Tottenham seemed destined to fail on past promises of glory.

Those sentiments dissipated as Postecoglou finally rewrote the club’s history by delivering on his promise to secure silverware in his second season.

A parade was staged two days after their Europa League triumph, where it is estimated that over 200,000 fans were in attendance to celebrate the team’s achievement.

The overwhelming emotion was relief and excitement at what the future held, but those were gradually ebbing away during the club’s long silence before crashing down with the announcement of Postecoglou’s dismissal.

Fans were quick to show their disgruntlement on social media, reacting to the news with shock and anger, which was overwhelmingly pointed in Levy’s direction.

Postecoglou’s sacking leaves Tottenham with more questions

Although the main question on everyone’s mind has been answered, it opens the door to several unknowns as Spurs prepare for the 2025/26 campaign.

The first is Postecoglou’s replacement, which Tottenham have announced will be confirmed soon.

Beyond that are the futures of players like Cristian Romero, who seemed intrinsically tied with the Australian, as well as the calibre of incomings the club can attract, depending on the next manager.

Even the direction of the club’s style of play and priorities for next season are in the air, with all of those uncertainties landing on Levy to answer.
