Tottenham fans ‘refuse to watch Hoffenheim clash’ after ‘ridiculous’ development

Tottenham supporters are not pleased with Ange Postecoglou’s chosen team to take on Hoffenheim on Thursday.

Postecoglou is in desperate need of victory in the Europa League at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena on 23 January, with the Australian’s future at the club hinging on cup competitions.

However, things have been made incredibly difficult for the Spurs boss with a host of first-team players ruled out on Thursday – with Pape Matar Sarr the latest to suffer a setback ahead of the trip to Germany.

Therefore, the Australian didn’t have many options available to him when it came to naming his team. However, the decision to start an out-of-form Son Heung-min over Mikey Moore has not gone down well among supporters.

Son Heung-min starts for Tottenham v Hoffenheim

Son has not been at his best recently and was largely anonymous in the 3-2 Premier League defeat to Everton on Sunday (23 January), with the Goodison Park faithful targeting the South Korean.

Therefore, some fans might have felt it would be best to rest Son, who is clearly struggling for form.

However, Postecoglou obviously doesn’t agree and has chosen to start the 32-year-old – a decision which has been branded “ridiculous” by one supporter, while another suggested he won’t be tuning in as a result.

Moore is a talented young player who has already proven that he is ready for the first team. Therefore, it is quite surprising that Postecoglou won’t give the 17-year-old a start when Son is out of form.

The youngster was introduced off the bench at Goodison Park and provided an assist in the final moments of the match, and it looks as though once again his impact will be limited to a substitute appearance.

In other Tottenham news, the club are huge favourites to sign one player after a £55million update.
