Tottenham fans react to bombshell Son Heung-min transfer update – ‘Painful’
Thomas Frank is set to join Tottenham and become their new manager, replacing Ange Postecoglou.
Postecoglou got his hands on the Europa League trophy with Spurs, guaranteeing a place in the Champions League next season, but Daniel Levy deemed that league form had been too underwhelming.
Now, the Spurs chief has turned to poaching Brentford boss Frank for Tottenham. However, the pressure will be on to get the summer transfer business right, so the Lilywhites can handle the demands that next term delivers.
There are some big calls to be made, though, and Son Heung-min’s future could be sorted straightaway.

Tottenham to address Son future
Although he has been a star at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for some time, this season was a disappointing one for Son on a personal level.
While it wasn’t the best season for the Lilywhites as a collective, Son certainly wasn’t at his expected standards and as captain, plenty of criticism fell on his shoulders.
Furthermore, there has been reported interest from Tottenham in Bryan Mbeumo and Antoine Semenyo, suggesting that Spurs are looking for new options.
Meanwhile, Son has been attracting interest from Saudi Arabia, giving Tottenham an opportunity to potentially cash in before he enters the final year of his contract.
According to respected journalist Alasdair Gold via X (10 June), addressing Son’s future will be a top priority for the new boss.
“One of the first things Thomas Frank will face when he joins Spurs is a Son Heung-min transfer chat,” Gold said.
“I understand the Tottenham captain is more open to a move this summer than he ever has been before.”
The majority of Tottenham fans reacting to that news accept now is probably the right time to say goodbye to Son, even if it will be a “painful” departure,
Tottenham have to choose between head and heart with Son
Tottenham have a really hard decision to make when it comes to Son’s future.
Although last season was certainly not what you would have expected from him, the South Korean still has plenty of talent and could be a great option for the Lilywhites to use with the increased number of games coming their way.
Season | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
2024/25 | 30 | 7 | 2 |
2023/24 | 35 | 17 | 0 |
2022/23 | 36 | 10 | 3 |
2021/22 | 35 | 23 | 2 |
2020/21 | 37 | 17 | 2 |
That being said, the 32-year-old is set to enter the final year of his contract in north London, meaning this is Tottenham’s final opportunity to cash in.
Given Levy isn’t particularly known for his willingness to invest, bringing in a healthy transfer fee would give the chief a clear chunk of money to put towards transfers.
Once the captain has sat down with the new manager, it will surely be a lot clearer about where his future lies.
