Tottenham fans in disbelief with Daniel Levy after ‘pathetic’ Eberechi Eze update

Eberechi Eze has been a Tottenham target for weeks.

After James Maddison’s ACL injury in pre-season, Spurs need a new attacking midfielder.

Therefore, Tottenham have been targeting a move for Eze in what would no doubt be a marquee signing.

Spurs were believed to be closing in on Eze with just days of the transfer window left. However, a recent transfer development has left Tottenham fans stunned.

Arsenal set to swoop in for Eberechi Eze

Given Eze’s form at Crystal Palace, the attacking midfielder would no doubt be a massive coup if Daniel Levy were able to get the deal over the line.

However, Spurs’ hopes of completing the signing took a massive hit on 20 August when David Ornstein confirmed that Arsenal had entered the race for the England international.

Arsenal had been linked to Eze in the past, and now Kai Havertz’s injury has forced the London side to re-enter the race.

As a result, multiple Spurs fans are furious with Levy due to his inability to quickly close the deal before any other potential suitors swooped in.

Some fans are also concerned that Levy’s reputation has now deminished as a “feared business” as another deal slips from Spurs’ fingers.

Tottenham in an awful position late in the transfer window

As it stands, Tottenham still need a replacement for Maddison.

The attacking midfielder contributed to 23 goals last season which quickly need replacing.

Eze would have no doubt been a perfect Maddison replacement. However, with this transfer now looking unlikely, Spurs are in an awful position to replace the injured star.

There are less than two weeks of the transfer window left for Tottenham to find another potential target, and with it being so late on, a big fee is likely needed.
