Tottenham fans in awe of what Igor Tudor said in first interview as Spurs boss: ‘Already better than Thomas Frank’

Tottenham fans are beginning to feel hopeful about their future under Igor Tudor.

The Croatian head coach takes the reins from Thomas Frank until the end of the season, with the Dane losing his job following the recent 2-1 defeat to Newcastle.

Tudor makes the move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, having been sacked by Italian giants Juventus earlier this season, after previously guiding the Old Lady to the Champions League last term.

Ahead of Sunday’s North London derby, the 47-year-old has spoken in his first interview at the club.

As a result, Tottenham fans are beginning to love the things that they are hearing.

Tudor joins the club knowing that the current predicament is far from ideal, but acknowledges that Spurs must attack it head on.

Sharing the interview, The London Standard journalist Sam Tabuteau said: “Courage, confidence and attacking football,” following Tudor’s first words.

One of the main criticisms during Frank’s time at the club revolved around his more reserved setup – something that Spurs fans feel will not be the case under Tudor.

Spurs sit 16th in the Premier League, with Frank coming under immense criticism for his approach revolving around the opposition, rather than Tottenham looking to impose themselves.

This is something that supporters are hoping is not the case under Tudor, with the Frank comparisons continuing to flow: “20 seconds in and he is already speaking better than Frank,” said one X user.

But the overarching feeling at Spurs is that there are no excuses from here on in. Tudor has the job of guiding the club to safety, while also preparing the club for another fresh start next season, whether it is him at the helm or not.

Tudor has the chance to make himself an instant Tottenham on Sunday, as they welcome league leaders Arsenal to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for a clash that carries huge implications at both ends of the table.

Igor Tudor has an important role in preparing Tottenham for the future

The current remit for Tudor is to guide Spurs to safety after a dismal campaign so far.

But, he holds an important role in preparing Tottenham for the future, whether it is the Croatian at the helm or not.

Following the Europa League triumph under Ange Postecoglou last May, the feeling was that Spurs were entering a new era, with the trophy drought finally over.

That has not proven to be the case, with a lack of discernable direction once again costing Tottenham in comparison to their ‘big six’ rivals.

Tudor will play an important role in drilling an idea in at Spurs – one involving the attacking football that supporters are desperate for, alongside the required fight to secure their place in the division.

While he is only at the club temporarily on paper, his stay at the club carries significant long-term value.
